At least 14 twice-retired ships were sunk to make a rusting breakwater in Comox Harbour. deliberately sink decommissioned ships to create a protective breakwater. Over several decades, a fleet of ships—including three windjammers, frigates, destroyers, and barques—were strategically sunk. This makeshift breakwater, known today as the Royston Wrecks, successfully calmed the waters, allowing logging traffic to navigate more safely
